CADIMAHAN RIVER got its name from Capiz - CA and Dima or Lima - There are 5 Barangays bordering the river that bears bread
fruits. It is like a small jack fruit but with smooth skin.
Many people were asking why it was called Cadimahan because as we can see it in the map of Roxas City the river ends at Cadimahan but because of illegal settlers it was closed. Cadimahan River has three tributaries: The MB Ryan Creek named after the son of one of the three fisher folks families who settled along the river bank. The Libotong Creek, which is descriptive of its contour, "galibot-libot ka lang" some part was closed and converted into fishpond, and Dayao creek was also name after its bordering barangay. It will take about 2 - 3 hours cruising the river, back and forth. The depth of the river in the middle during high tide ranges from 1-5 fathoms. More than 100 fisher folk families are dependent on this river for their livelihood from 5 Barangay. There are basically 9 types of fishing years being used here with a total of more than 200 units. There are 29 species of fishes caught here and 20 shellfishes. The sea bass caught here ranges from 1 kilo to 15 kilos. There are plenty of groupers here and white shrimps. Back in the 1960's there were sharks, stingrays, and barracuda coming in this river when the depth was then 7 fathoms. This river was very wide then, but with the construction of fishponds and rising of subdivisions some parts of it were covered. This is also a growing area of Gracillaria a red seaweed which processed is turned into agar. Also Sassing or sand worms delicacy found in mangrove areas. The (LABSFAR) law's Bay bay small fisher folks association is the beneficiary of this river tour project under the administration of Mayor Vicente Bermejo.
